Buhake Sindi

Buhake Sindi brings over 18 years of experience as a Senior Solutions Architect and Advocate, specialising in Java Enterprise technology stacks. His extensive background in coding, design, and problem-solving is complemented by his role as a skilled DevOps Engineer, with 10+ years of hands-on experience in optimising and automating deployments. Buhake excels in translating project requirements into technical specifications and delivering robust, scalable solutions. His passion for technology and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly has made him a sought-after technical speaker and writer. Buhake's dedication to mentoring and guiding developers positions him as an influential advocate for cutting-edge development practices in corporate environments.

He founded Devoxx4Kids South Africa, a multi-award, registered Non-Profit Organisation that introduces and inspires young into STEM, particularly programming, in a fun way.

Outside of work, he occasionally makes music or creates podcast episodes, writes blogs, and is an avid runner.

Michael Redlich

Titles: Java Champion, Director at Garden State JUG, Lead Java Editor at InfoQ Java, Contract Developer Advocate and Technical Writer at Payara

Michael Redlich has been an active member within the Java community for the past 25 years. He founded the Garden State Java User Group (formerly the ACGNJ Java Users Group) in 2001 where he serves as one of the directors. Since 2016, Mike has served as a Java community news editor for InfoQ where his contributions include the weekly Java news roundup, news items, technical articles and technical reviews from external authors. He is currently the lead Java Queue editor. Mike joined Payara as a contract Developer Advocate and Technical Writer in the summer of 2023.

He has presented at venues such as Devnexus, Oracle Code One, JCON World, Emerging Technologies for the Enterprise, Trenton Computer Festival (TCF), TCF IT Professional Conference, and numerous Java User Groups. Mike serves as a committer on the Jakarta NoSQL and Jakarta Data specifications and the Eclipse JNoSQL project. He also participates on the leadership council of the Jakarta EE Ambassadors. Mike was named a Java Champion in April 2023.

Mike retired from ExxonMobil Technology & Engineering in June 2023 with 33½ years of service. His experience included developing custom scientific laboratory and web applications, polymer physics, chemometrics, infrared spectroscopy and automotive testing. He also has experience as a Technical Support Engineer at Ai-Logix, Inc. (now AudioCodes) where he provided technical support and developed telephony applications for customers.

Ondro Mihályi

Ondro is a software developer and consultant specializing in combining standard and proven tools to solve new and challenging problems. He has co-founded OmniFish, which provides enterprise support for Eclipse GlassFish and expert Jakarta EE services. He’s passionate about helping his clients and the wider Java community with their projects based on Jakarta EE and similar technologies.

Ondro is a core member of several opensource projects and Jakarta EE specification projects. He’s a frequent conference speaker, leader of the Czech JUG, and a Java Champion.

Otávio Santana

Otavio is a passionate architect and software engineer focused on cloud and Java technologies. He has deep expertise in polyglot persistence and high-performance applications in finance, social media, and e-commerce.

Otavio has contributed to the Java and the Open source ecosystem in several ways, such helped the direction and objectives of the Java platform since Java 8 as a JCP executive member, besides being a committer and leader in several open-source products and specifications.

Otavio is recognized for his Open Source contributions and has received many awards, including all JCP Awards categories and the Duke’s Choice Award, to name a few. Otávio is also a distinguished Java Champions and Oracle ACE program member.

Otávio loves history, economy, traveling, programming, and real-world languages. He speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, and French fluently in dad jokes.

Nathan Rauh

Nathan works as a software engineer at IBM, contributing to a variety of open source projects and specifications, including Jakarta Data and various other Jakarta EE specifications, MicroProfile, and Open Liberty.

Reza Rahman

Reza Rahman is Principal Program Manager for Java on Azure at Microsoft. He works to make sure Java developers are first class citizens at Microsoft and Microsoft is a first class citizen of the Java ecosystem.

Reza has been an official Java technologist at Oracle. He is the author of the popular book EJB 3 in Action from Manning Publishing. Reza has long been a frequent speaker at Java User Groups and conferences worldwide including DevNexus, JavaOne, and Devoxx. He has been the lead for the Java EE track at JavaOne as well as a JavaOne Rock Star Speaker award recipient. He was the program chair for the inaugural JakartaOne conference. He has been a member of the Java EE, EJB, and JMS expert groups over the years. Reza implemented the EJB container for the Resin open source Java EE application server. He is the Microsoft representative to the Jakarta EE and MicroProfile steering committees. He helps lead the Philadelphia Java User Group. Reza is proud to be a founding member of the Jakarta EE Ambassadors.

Reza has decades of experience with technology leadership, enterprise architecture, and consulting. He has been working with Java EE technology since its inception, developing on almost every major application platform ranging from Tomcat to JBoss EAP, GlassFish, WebSphere and WebLogic. Reza has developed enterprise systems for well-known companies like eBay, Motorola, Comcast, Nokia, Prudential, Guardian Life, USAA, Independence Blue Cross, Anthem, CapitalOne, and AAA using Java EE and Spring. He is particularly interested in distributed systems, messaging, middleware, and machine learning.

Reza is an inductee to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most respected national honor society for undergraduates in liberal arts and sciences. He earned his bachelors degree from Gettysburg College. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Computer Science and Economics as well as a minor in Mathematics.

Werner Keil

Werner Keil is a Cloud-Native, Jakarta EE and Security expert. Helping Global 500 Enterprises across industries and leading IT vendors.

He worked for over 30 years as IT Manager, PM, Coach, SW architect, developer and consultant for Finance, Mobile, Media, Transport and Public sector.

Werner develops enterprise systems using Java, Java/Jakarta EE, Oracle, IBM, Spring or Microsoft technologies, JavaScript, Node, Angular, dynamic or functional languages.

Werner is Committer at Apache Foundation, Eclipse Foundation, Babel Language Champion, UOMo Project Lead and active member of the Java Community Process in JSRs like 354 (Money, also Maintenance Lead), 358/364 (JCP.next), 363 (Unit-API 1), 365 (CDI 2), 366 (Java EE 8), 375 (Java EE Security), 380 (Bean Validation 2), 385 (Unit-API 2, also Spec Lead) and was the longest serving Individual Member of the Executive Committee for 9 years in a row till 2017. Werner is currently the Committer representative in the Jakarta EE Specification Committee.

I work for Red Hat, where I spend most of my time on MicroProfile, SmallRye and Quarkus.

Gavin King

Gavin King is a Java Champion and Distinguished Engineer at Red Hat. He's the creator of Hibernate, the most popular persistence solution for Java, and of the Ceylon programming language. He contributed to the Java Community Process as JBoss and then Red Hat representative for the EJB3 and JPA specifications and as spec lead and author of the CDI specification. He's currently a major contributor to the design of Jakarta Data and Jakarta Persistence, and an EGC representative for the Commonhaus Foundation.

Will Lyons

Will Lyons is vice president of product management for Enterprise Cloud Native Java at Oracle. He has over 20 years of experience working with customers using enterprise software and cloud technologies. Will has extensive knowledge of Oracle’s Enterprise Cloud Native Java capabilities, including WebLogic Server, WebLogic Server for OCI and OKE, Coherence and Helidon, and their integration with Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Applications, Oracle Database, OCI, Kubernetes, and Jakarta EE.

Louise Castens is a Senior Product Manager and Product Lead at Payara, and she is committed to helping shape technology solutions that deliver value to end users. Louise has more than 15 years of experience in Product Management - identifying opportunities, delivering quality solutions, sustained results and effective change for businesses and clients across a wide range of B2B and SaaS products and industries. With a business background, some of her specialties and certifications include Agile frameworks, Business Analysis and Process optimization.

Arjan Tijms

Arjan Tijms is the co-founder of Jakarta EE support company OmniFish, and is currently project lead for a number of Jakarta projects including Jakarta- Security, Authentication, Authorization, Faces and Expression Language. He is the co-creator of the popular OmniFaces library for JSF that was a 2015 Duke’s Choice Award winner, and is the author of three books on Jakarta EE. He has been active as an EG member under the JCP for JSF (JSR 372) and Security API (JSR 375), and has participated as a member in the Jakarta EE Steering and Specification committees.
